Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Govt Jobs: Mock Tests & Alerts ("the App", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application. We respect your privacy and only collect data we genuinely need to make the app work.

1. Who we are

Govt Jobs: Mock Tests & Alerts is an Android app for Indian government-exam aspirants (UPSC, SSC, APPSC, TSPSC, IBPS, RRB and similar). Contact: kranthireddynandyala@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

• Email address (if you sign in with Email or Google)
• Phone number (if you sign in with Phone OTP)
• Google account display name and profile photo (if you sign in with Google — only the public profile fields, never your password)
• A randomly generated Firebase user ID (UID) that identifies you to our backend

2.2 Profile data you enter

• Display name (editable from Profile → Edit Profile)
• Target exam (e.g. UPSC CSE, APPSC Group 2)
• Daily study goal in hours
• Reminder preferences and time
• Notification category preferences (job alerts, exam reminders, current affairs)
• Profile photo (if you upload one — stored in Firebase Storage)

2.3 Activity and content

• Daily schedule tasks you create
• Mock-test attempts, answers, scores, and time spent
• Bookmarks you save (job alerts, current-affairs articles, study materials)
• PDF downloads cached on your device
• Messages you send to the AI Doubt Chat assistant

2.4 Device and technical data

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token, used to send push notifications to your specific device
• Crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics): device model, OS version, stack trace, and the app version when a crash happens
• Anonymous usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics): screen visits, feature usage counts, app open/close events
• Approximate locale / region from your device settings

We do not collect precise GPS location, your phone contacts, SMS messages, call logs, microphone audio, or camera images except when you explicitly tap the camera badge in Edit Profile to upload a profile picture you choose.

2.5 Advertising identifiers

We show ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may receive your Android Advertising ID and basic device information to serve relevant ads. You can reset or opt out of personalised ads anytime in Android Settings → Google → Ads.

3. How we use this information

• To authenticate you and keep you signed in
• To personalise your home screen, schedule, and starter study plan based on your target exam
• To save your schedule, bookmarks, mock-test history, and profile across sessions and devices
• To send daily study reminders and exam-deadline alerts you have enabled
• To run the AI Doubt Chat — your messages are sent to Google's Gemini API and the reply is shown back to you
• To score your mock tests server-side (we never trust the client to grade itself)
• To show ads that help keep the app free
• To diagnose crashes and improve app quality

5. Data we do not share or sell

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers beyond what AdMob's standard SDK collects. We never share your AI chat messages with anyone except Google Gemini (which processes them to generate a reply and does not use them to train its public models when accessed via the API).

6. Data retention

• Your account data (profile, schedule, bookmarks, attempts) stays in Firestore until you ask us to delete it.
• Crash reports and analytics retention follow Firebase's standard retention windows (typically 30–60 days for crashes and up to 14 months for analytics, then aggregated).
• Mock-test docs we generate are kept indefinitely so you can revisit historic tests.

7. Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile at any time from Profile → Edit Profile.
• Turn off reminders from Profile → Reminder Settings; the alarm and notifications stop immediately.
• Toggle notification categories (job alerts, current affairs, exam reminders) from Profile → Notification Settings.
• Sign out at any time from Profile.
• Request account and data deletion by emailing kranthireddynandyala@gmail.com from the address linked to your account. We will delete your data within 30 days.
• Reset your advertising ID in Android Settings → Google → Ads.

8. Children

The app is intended for users aged 13 and above (the typical age range of Indian government-exam aspirants). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, please email us and we will delete it.

9. Security

All traffic between the app and our backend is sent over HTTPS. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication using industry-standard token flows. Profile photos and attempts are protected by Firebase Storage and Firestore security rules so other users cannot read them. We do not store passwords in plaintext (Firebase Authentication handles password hashing and verification).

10. Where your data is processed

Firebase and our Cloud Run backend operate in Google's data centres, primarily in asia-south1 (Mumbai, India). AI chat requests are routed to Google's Gemini API endpoints, which may be served from data centres outside India.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. If the changes are material we'll also notify you inside the app. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
